10 Months

Happy New Year and Happy 10 months to Lucy!

We've been busy traveling this past month, and enjoying being able to spend lots of time with our little 10 month old. Since this blog basically serves as her baby book now, we are trying to document all those little moments/milestones as we watch her grow. This month, enjoy some superlatives, Lucy style, that showcase all the fun stuff that's been going on with her.

Most Likely to Be a Singer/Dancer: Lucy has begun experimenting with her singing and dancing skills. Add to that the fact that she got a toy microphone for Christmas from her Aunt Meghan, and numerous toys that make "music", and she is on her way to stardom! (Or performing on the fireplace "stage"; but hey, we all have to start somewhere.)

Most Improved: Lucy decided she was tired of dusting our floors with her tummy, and decided to start "regular" crawling on Christmas. Even though she's been doing full out planks since 5 months of age, she still hadn't mastered that while moving. Now, she's a speed demon!

Biggest Sucker for Lucy's cuteness: This is a tie between Bryan and I. She had me gushing when she first said "mama" a couple weeks ago, even though she doesn't really seem to know that it should be directed at me yet. And when she was in St. Louis, someone had Daddy wrapped around her little finger. No one else would do but her Daddy, it was quite adorable.

Biggest Bummer: Lucy got her first ear infection while in St. Louis. She just wasn't acting like herself after Christmas, and we took her to Urgent Care. She's been on antibiotics since and in much better spirits.

Funniest Smile:
Lucy wins this award due to the recent "nose scrunch" smile she has adapted from her big sister, Bailey dog. She scrunches that nose and smiles so big, you can't help but smile along with her.

Most Likely to need their hearing checked: This would be Bryan and I after flying with Lucy. Apparently each month she gets louder and louder, and babbles more and more! It was intensified on our plane ride back from St. Louis, where she also decided to have a loud conversation with the poor passenger in front of us.

Most Likely to move to Wisconsin strictly for the cheese:
Lucy's favorite finger food is her new love--CHEESE! You seriously can't even get the package out until she has finished her other stuff, because she knows what it is and has a one track mind. In addition to cheese, Lucy loves eating sliced apples, yogurt, bread, kiwi, bananas, squash, peas--pretty much anything we give her--she's a great eater! We're looking forward to trying pasta, nut butters, and more this month!

Most likely to be THAT kid at school whose parents think she's a prodigy: What can we say, this little bundle of joy is so adorably amazing, we can't help it. She's been testing her smarts out with her sorting blocks, and starting to put the blocks in the right cube; she now will play with you and lift her arms up when asked "how big is Lucy"; and she watched me open those cabinets in the kitchen and is on a mission now. She's also a champ with her physical abilities, including: walking with her Dino rider, standing and cruising on furniture, climbing all sets of stairs right up to the top, and now standing and trying to let go. Trying is the key word. Yes, we could go on and on, but for now I will keep reminding us that parents with humility towards their kids are the best for teachers. :) But, she is pretty awesome.

Hope all is well with everyone. Until next month! (Don't forget to check out all the scoop about Lucy's First Christmas here. Or, just scroll down after reading this post :) )

Lucy's First Christmas

Lucy spent 2 weeks in St. Louis for her first Christmas. She had a great trip and we are blessed to have such a great traveler on our hands.

Some highlights include:
-playing with Nana and Poppe, who hadn't seen her since June
-getting to know her cousins
-opening up her first Christmas presents (her favorites include a laptop and sled from Grandma and Papa, a dino rider from Nana and Poppe, and many many more!)
-reading books with family
-playing with the little dogs, Tiger and Finn. She loved them!
-meeting some extended Fingland family
-playing with her Great Grandma Nana
-riding in her sled with Aunt Blair
-Walking with Deeno her Dinosaur all around
-climbing up Nana and Poppe's stairs
-hanging out with Melrose and Amy
-meeting Santa for the first time

And so much more! We had a great time with family and friends, and it was a wonderful trip. We look forward to when we can spend some more time with everyone soon! Lots of love and hugs from Colorado. Hope your Christmas was merry!
