Lucy 20 Months and Happy Halloween!

We have exited the "teen" months and are on the road to having a 2 year old very soon, wow!

We had a great and low key Halloween, and little Lucy was the cutest owl I've ever seen.  Lucy came to my school again for the Halloween parties and was a little scared of all the commotion, but it was still fun.  We also went that weekend to the Colorado Railroad Museum's 'Trick or Treat Train' event.  We got to ride on the "spooky" train, get a couple pieces of candy, and walk around and see the trains.  It was not too busy and a nice way to slowly introduce Lucy into the craziness of Halloween.  (We still didn't make it out trick or treating this year.  Mostly because it would be dangerous for Mommy to have that much candy in our house...)

Other than that we've just been enjoying the weekends doing some fun activities, and watching Lucy grow and learn each day.  I'm so excited for the holidays coming up because she is at such a fun age.

Some highlights from the month:
Our favorite words Lucy says:  Hort (for Horton Hears a Who), tilla (tortilla, one of her favorite foods), whoa (which she shouts whenever she takes a big bite of food, or, has a big poop, haha), butt (not for the body part, but what she calls buttons), Bailey, GO (her new phrase for Bailey since she's been listening to us shout it for so long now...), help (which actually is really helpful and allows us to know what she needs), "ummm" (when making a hard decision between her coats in the morning.  Someone's been listening to Mommy.)

The other thing she does to try and stall nap time is point to all my facial features and say them over and over again while we are reading/rocking.  She also has Pop Pop and Pa Pa down, as well as Nee-na (Nana).  We are working on Grandma, or at least Grammy, before the holidays.  She is trying to repeat most all words we say to her now, which makes it all more fun.

Favorite songs:  MaNaMaNa, Lollipop, Rockin Robin, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Old MacDonald (but only if Daddy sings it, and the only animal he ever has is a "COW!"  She'll correct us if we try to broaden Old MacDonald's farm.), Shake Your Sillies Out, If You're Happy and You Know It.  She also is particular with her bed time songs.  Bryan and I sing different songs before she goes to bed, and she knows which one I should be singing, and which one Daddy should sing.  She will also let you know if it is the wrong song.  Ah, already so opinionated.
Favorite activities/toys: Walks. She is almost like Bailey now where if you say the word walk, you better mean it.  Otherwise between her shouting WALK and Bailey barking, you'll be out the door in a matter of minutes.  Opening doors and ringing the doorbell, especially at daycare.  Exploring new art stuff like play dough and paint.  Watching (and attempting) to help us while we are cooking.  She'll push the chair over and try to get right in the middle of it all.  Playing chase, especially when Daddy gets home from work.  Skyping.  Lucy really seems to understand the whole skype thing more now and is so much more interactive with it.  From hugging the screen to trying to feed whoever she's talking to, it's so fun to see her talk to her family and interact.  She also is loving the new baby at daycare, and was so sweet with her the other day at pickup.  She was pointing out all the body parts on the baby and then gave her a very gentle hug.  As soon as we pull in Val's driveway she shouts "iley" (for Riley) and "baby".  She loves her friends.

Favorite books:  "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs", "Knuffle Bunny", and "Goodnight Gorilla".

Hope you had a great October!
Love,
The Finglands
