We had a great time celebrating Lucy's big birthday with a small party for her. It was an Eric Carle theme, so she had some Eric Carle-esque decor for the festivities.
Bryan made Lucy's cake--a banana and blueberry, no sugar/no oil recipe. It was actually really good and she loved having the muffin versions for breakfasts the week after! I cut it up into a butterfly shape and slightly decorated it--I'm no Ace of Cakes, but it still turned out cute!
Lucy's Nana was in town for her party, and Lucy had a ton of fun showing her how much she's grown!
Lucy's party outfit:
Lucy wasn't too sure about her cake at first. After 15 minutes of picking the icing though, she finally started eating it (and feeding large chunks to Bailey--we basically just told Bailey it was her bday celebration too!)
She even got to open a few presents--she's a lucky little girl to be blessed with such generous people in her life!
It was a low key but fun way to celebrate the day. We appreciate all the birthday wishes and had a great time with our family and friends. Thanks to all those who helped make her day special! While it is crazy we have a one year old, it's pretty amazing to see how much she's grown in the past year. She is a loving, spunky, smart, and beautiful girl, and we thank the heavens that she's ours. Love you Lucy, Happy 1st Birthday bitsy girl!

PS-I'll add some bday party videos to her 13 month blog post coming soon! A little preview though: Lucy kicked off the week before her bday with her first steps, and by Sunday the 11th, she was walking even further without assistance. And now, well, let's just say someone has learned to throw a bit of a fit if we bring her inside for dinner while she is busy doing her afternoon walks outside!

We had fun celebrating with the Birthday Girl! If Bryan ever tires of his engineering career, he may have a future in baking. Those cupcakes were dee-lish!
PS: Your Eric Carle theme was so fresh--loved it! Hope you put some of that on Pinterest.
